- Currently, no laws specifically regulate cryptocurrencies. Cryptocurrencies are not considered as money or its equivalent and they are not backed by the Central Bank. Existing tax rules apply to cryptocurrency transactions. Ireland joined the European Blockchain Partnership and agreed to AMLD5. It has also published a report called Virtual Currencies And Blockchain Technology.
